Watersports Skills Programmes (Gaisce)
Price: €40 per person / Time: 10am - 4pm
Students may take instruction in either Sailing, Windsurfing or Kayaking either:
- As part of a Transition Year Day outing to Oysterhaven or
- A Weekly Session within school hours
- On Weekends - Saturdays or Sundays during September & October / April & May
Using single handed Topaz dinghies or double handed Fevas and following the Irish Sailing Association syllabus students develop their sailing skills at an appropriate level from Beginners to Improvers to Advanced level. ISA Sailing certification is awarded at the end each course.
The ISA Go! Windsurfing scheme was pioneered at Oysterhaven and the “accelerated learning” techniques enable young windsurfers to quickly master the basics and experience the freedom and exhilaration of this exciting sport. Progress is recorded in your personal Windsurfing Logbook.

Learn to kayak safely and competently in the safety of Oysterhaven Bay. Gain the skills and strokes necessary to manoeuvre a sea kayak with ease. Gain an understanding of the basic safety rules of sea kayaking and learn the techniques necessary to kayak safely as part of a group. Candidates who successfully complete thiscourse will be awarded the ICU Level 2 Cert.
